From ORKUT to FACEBOOK to DISASTER

When some people get used to certain things they change things or may be become lazier and short cut it. Let me tell you what I mean.

When orkut existed we had to send scraps and all we had to do is to send scraps to each other and continuously refresh the page to check if the beautiful classmate has responded. When she would respond we would read it thousands of time and again, refresh the page after giving a big nice grammatically correct reply! The conversation went on and on. When photos would be uploaded it would be a “wow” thing and you would thank the technology thousands of time and commenting would meant equal to hanging out with friends.

I remember those days in early 2000s when my cousin had internet connection and I didn’t even own a computer. I would constantly wonder how amazing it would be to be on it. My school friends didn’t stop talking about it, and I didn’t stop wondering about it.

And when finally for the first time I opened my orkut account from a cyber cafe; in less than a month I learnt they have all shifted their base to the new phenomena “ FACEBOOK”. At first nothing interested me. But, later the Newsfeed got me hooked up. The status thing was superb and likes = respect. The fancy chat box made me jump with joy , and just a hi was so beautiful . I again thanked technology. When someone would be seen online it would be immoral if we didn’t say at least a hi and there would be lots of fights over it. It had indeed SCRAPPED orkut.

When google + came into picture it kept us waiting for months before unveiling it but , the excitement soon dissolved as it couldn’t match to the addiction the facebook had injected people with.

Facebook tends to  be a strongest social networking site with millions connected and the concept of tagging and sharing seems like a face to face conversation without a webcam. The cyber world was already connected to the real world and it has huge impacts whatsoever. So many sites were developed to match it equal with facebook but they just killed themselves and facebook still emerged as a winner.

Facebook today is full of shared pictures and trolls  with the copied statuses. The real pulp of facebook is no longer there. But,still people are addicted to it. Whenever someone tries to delete their facebook  account it would still say that “ You account will be deleted in 14 days and you can still recover your account before that” How mischievous? They know they are going to return.

There seems to be no end to the facebook co op. except if the people acknowledge soon that whatever information they upload on it, Mr. Zuckerberg has the right to use it or modify or sell it to anyone. He also knew that less people would bother to read  14000 words terms and conditions which will take you nearly two hours to read.It is a legal contract between you and site and you accept it by signing up.

Even if you delete it or change the site you will just jump from one pit to another beacuse all are all same fishes . But, still I can’t predict how many people would care even after reading it.
